History:Culutto City has been his home since the very beginning of his existence. You could say he began with a storybook family. His mother was the heir to a very successful company, and she was brought up with strict discipline and an already set future. His father was the street boy the kids loved and the parents hated, having dropped school in order to help his own father run the Culutto gym. They met by chance, and it was 'love at first sight'. Through trial and error, and let's not forget one set of very displeased parents, their love prevailed. The two were married at twenty, and the man took over his father's gym only months later due to Grandpa Velazquez's early retirement.
He was not their first child, though. They tried many times for a child, but each one had been stillborn. Faustino was the fourth child, the only one to successfully be brought into the world, even if he was a few weeks early. His childhood was a decent one, filled mainly with his mother's ways of raising a kid. She reflected her own childhood on to him, turning him into a quiet, obedient toddler and young child. His father didn't like this one bit, thinking it was better to give the kid more freedom than to restrict him from doing just about anything.
Regardless, he still followed what his mother said.
The years slowly passed him by. At six, he began school, and he hated it. He was bullied for coming to school in the crisp, clean clothing his mother dressed him in, and making friends was merely a dream. At seven, his mother started teaching him how to play the piano. He absolutely loved it, the way his fingers danced across the keys and the beautiful tunes that flowed from the strings. When he would come back from school, he rushed through his homework, slowing down when his mother started watching over his shoulder. As soon as he was done, he went back to the piano. It was his own little escape from reality, and he loved every minute spent in this new world.
At the age of nine, his mother started getting busier. After school and homework, his father would come home and get him to leave with him. They would go to the Culutto Gym where his father would let him play with all of his Pokemon. He started going to the gym with his father more and more, always trying to get back home before his mother got back from work. On his tenth birthday, he was given a Pokemon, much to his mother's distaste. It was a Heracross. The dual type was of low level, yet he was still strong enough to be able to protect him. While it wasn't allowed, he would sneak Grace's PokeBall into school. It wasn't really for safety reasons but more of the fact that he felt a little braver with the sphere in his pocket.
A year passed and sneaking Heracross into school proved to be useful. It was recess, one of the usual times for him to get picked on by the upperclassmen. The usual gang that bullied him walked up, twisted grins plastered on their faces. They always smiled like that when they were wanting to do something particularly nasty. So they dragged him to the boys' bathroom. You can probably guess what they were going to do, but they were never able to do it. The PokeBall snapped open, releasing the Pokemon from inside. With a swift kick and a couple of jabs, the upperclassmen were on the floor, moaning in pain.
Faustino ran from the boys' bathroom, dragging Gracianos with him. The pair left school and ran straight to his father's gym. There was no point in going home. Mother would skin him alive for ditching school, especially while he was still so young. When he arrived, his father was surprised to see him, and he was quick to question him. Like a good little boy, he told his father what happened. Instead of scolding him like a normal parent would for the ditching school and bringing his Heracross part, his father praised him. The rest of that day, Faustino trained with his father.
A month passed without his mother being told what happened before his father brought home another partner for him. It was a young Riolu. He was ecstatic, taking the Pokemon and playing with it and Gracianos for a couple of hours until he was called back inside.
The years passed him by as he and his partners grew. In a matter of time his Riolu evolved into a Lucario. Slowly, he was able to get his father to take him out to catch more Pokemon. The first Pokemon he was actually able to catch was a Machop that had already taken fall damage from an attempt to climb up a cliff. The next was a few months after that, a Meditite that had gotten lost in the city. It wasn't until he was fourteen that he was able to catch another, having been focusing on training the others at his father's gym. That Pokemon was actually a Meinfoo that a challenger of the gym had abandoned after losing their match.
At sixteen, his father and mother began fighting. Their storybook relationship was slowly falling to pieces, and Faustino believed it was his own fault. Why? Because the more Pokemon he had, the more stressed his mother would get. The reason was unknown to him, even when they were on their best behavior. A few tense months led to his parents ending it. They signed the divorce papers, and then there was a long battle about who would keep custody of Faustino. He solved all their problems by saying he'll live in the small room in the back of the gym that had a bed in it.
At seventeen, his father decided it was time for an early retirement. He wanted to go see the world he was never able to due to commitment, so he left the gym to Faustino. He had the right Pokemon for it, so why not? He had already quit school during the whole divorce event, so he had more time to be at the gym. Plus, his Pokemon had all evolved into their final stages when he would train them to drown out his parent's arguing. Over the course of the year, he began cleaning up the gym. His father had left it in a mess, and he had to shape up some of the people who trained in the gym so they didn't slack nearly as much.
